How It All Began
Barrett and Lizzy met in classic New York City fashion—on a dating app. Thanks to targeted Instagram ads and Barrett’s friend, Eli, they both ended up on now defunct, Bounce. While there’s no definitive proof, they like to claim they’re the only success story.
At first, the timing didn’t quite work out, but a pair of forgotten sunglasses helped bring them back together. On the night they reconnected, they ended up on a bench in the West Village, planning an impromptu trip to Ireland & London to make sure they’d see each other again.
On the London Eye
In the following years, they’ve lived through seven jobs, four apartments, more concerts than they can count, and a global pandemic. After being cooped up in a small apartment, they discovered their love of hiking, made infinitely better by the addition of the most important member of the family, Stevie.
Lizzy introduced Barrett to the wonder of magic shows and the magic of escape rooms and Barrett introduced Lizzy to the highs and lows of fantasy football and, during Rangers games, the distraction of needlepoint (a hobby enjoyed by his mom and aunt).
On the hiking trail
Barrett found it fitting, after all they’d experienced together, to bring their story full circle, back at that same bench in the West Village. Keeping a secret from Lizzy took a village and a fake brunch plan, but the look of surprise on her face made it all worth it.
As they turn the page to their next chapter, Barrett and Lizzy look forward to celebrating with all those who mean so much to them. Although Stevie has other plans that day, keep an eye out for a small glimpse of her.
